Revit API 2025 SDK is out!

Every year we get new Revit version with changes and new features and because of it Revit API also has a bunch of changes.

It's good to understand these changes to see if you need to correct your scripts to be compatible with newer versions.

👀 Let's go through changes and see what has changed.

Revit API SDK

SDK or Software Development Kit is a collection of tools, libraries, documentations and samples that helps programmers work with a specific platform or technology.

Revit API also has an SDK which you can install and find a lot of help in there, including compiled Revit API Documentation similar to what we see on revitapidocs website. But as always, everything is oriented for C# development.

What's Inside SDK?

Once you will install the SDK, you will see a lot of folders in there. You will get various samples, a few documents to read and RevitAPI.chm file.

This is a Compressed HTML Help Files format, meaning it's like a website in a single file that you can explore in an old interface.

When you open it, you will be able to explore all the namespaces like in revitapidocs, and you also can read about What's new.

💡 I also recommend you to scroll through all the samples, so you can get an idea of what kind of examples in C# you can get.

Nowadays it's super easy to translate C# to python with Chat GPT!

What has changed?

There are quite a lot of changes in the Revit API to write in an email, so I would recommend to check out this video where I go through these changes briefly.
