Leverage Your Time!

Many people think that they don't have time to learn to code...

But coding is what will get you your time back.

This is the best way to get leverage on your time and let me explain why.

How to Leverage Your Time?

Naval Ravikant has famously said:
There are 4 ways you can leverage your time:

  • Capital

  • Labor

  • Media

  • Code 👈

The first 2 require a lot of money and leadership skills. And they are not as efficient.

But Media and especially Code are incredible. They give you opportunity to scale infinitely.

You make content or code once and you can reuse it over and over. It can be used by 5 or 500 or 5000 people...

This is how you leverage your time at scale.

But how will it help me?

As Revit Users, we all work on projects that have unrealistic deadlines with old way of working.

To match them, we need to:

  • ❌ Work longer hours (that lead to burn-out)

  • ✅ Automate tasks with code

Which one sounds more exciting?

You will not only save your time, you will also help your colleagues and save their time as well.

And as a result you will push your career forward, because business owners love saving time and money. And if you are the person responsible for that, you will get rewarded accordingly.

That's why you should learn to code.

Invest your time in Code

The best way to learn coding is to start using it.

Watch any course to pick up basics and get a general idea. There are plenty free ones out there.

But practice should be your #1 priority.
Try to practice as much as possible.

Create lots of small pyRevit tools that can help you a little. Then slowly you will improve your Revit API skill and be able to create more useful tools.

At certain point you will finally start getting more time back.

I can't say what task will get your the most time back, because every office has its own unique workflows and demands

But, you will know the best what needs to be automated asap.

Start coding.

Imagine how much time you’ll save when you don’t have to repeat the same tasks over and over.
