⌛Stop Rushing. Learning to Code Takes Time.

Feb 17, 2025

Learning to Code Takes Time.

Have you tried learning to code in one day?

Let me guess. You found long video or even a course. You rushed through the whole thing and then you got even more confused. Well, at least that's what I did when I started.

And that planted a seed in my brain.

It's always unique.

Programming is an individual journey.

There are many new terms, a lot of logic and too many abstract concepts in programming. But it's not 🚀 rocket science. Some learn it sooner, and some need more time. But eventually everyone can get there.

So, I thought I could share a short story on how I learnt OOP in python. Because, I also learnt something really cool about how our 🧠brain really works. And you should definitely take advantage of that.

It made sense once I stopped.

When I started with OOP in python I was very lost.

I followed many tutorials, wrote some code, but I couldn't understand why would I need it. And I couldn't even find any reason when I would use it in the real world.

I spent days on it and then I just gave up.

I thought OOP is not for me. And I didn't even try to learn anything about it. But then, suddenly, something clicked in my brain.

Out of nowhere, OOP finally made sense to me.

I know it sounds weird, but I still remember that moment really well. I wasn't even coding or trying to understand OOP. I was just going about my day and it popped into my head. I finally knew where and how I could use it and most importantly why.

It's funny that I learnt what I needed when I stopped trying.

Should you just stop?

No, that's not the point.

What I'm trying to say is that our brain can work in multiple ways. Sometimes you can learn something new and it instantly clicks. But other times - nothing makes sense. More you try - more confused you end up.

That's usually where subconscious comes into play. Our subconscious works all the time.

If you are going to think about something long enough, your subconscious will take notice and might even start looking for solutions. And you won't even know it's happening.

But eventually you will start getting your answers.

Usually it's subtle and you don't even notice it. But sometimes it might struck you and you just get it instantly. That's what happened to me with OOP, and that's why I still remember this moment.

💡 If you feel stuck with programming, just give your brain some time and space to think it through.

P.S.

Have you experienced something similar?

Did you ever notice how you subconcious gave you an answer to something that didn't make sense to you before?

If not, pay attention. Because it's happening all the time.
